Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T Review

Full review of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8T smartphone, a budget MiUI 11 handset costing £180 in the UK. I’ve been using it as my personal mobile for a week, testing the camera tech, everyday performance, battery life and beyond. So here’s my final verdict, and you can check out my Note 8T unboxing for a full tour of the software, camera app and other bits.

In 2020 you can grab quite a few decent cheap phones for under £200 and this Redmi is the latest, following the Realme 5 series. For one, the quad lens rear cam can capture good looking photos and 4K video across a range of conditions. Battery performance is also impressive, even with intensive use. Xiaomi’s budget blower can easily last over a day with lots of media streaming, gaming, camera use and more.

However, speaking of gaming, the Redmi Note 8T isn’t the speediest smartphone in 2020. While you can just about play the likes of PubG Mobile, it’s a laggy affair at times. Even everyday skimming through the MiUI desktops and menus can be a bit stuttery.

So is Xiaomi’s handset one of the best cheap phones of the year so far? It’s definitely a contender, although I preferred the Realme for their smoother user experience. Check out my review of the Realme 5 for more on that budget blower.
