We review the weird air+water cooler hybrid from AliExpress, the pccooler W120 that we assembled in livestream previously.

This is one of those weird products from AliExpress in China, as it attempts to mix both air and water cooling in an unorthodox fashion. The pccooler W120 was first shown about 7 years ago, and has seemingly sat on the shelf since it was created. The unit uses a mix of air and water cooling — which is sort of true of most coolers, really — except its version is to literally hook into an open loop while still using a traditional tower air cooler. The included fan has a high CFM, though does operate relatively loudly and is made of cheaper plastics. Air pushes through the tower cooler as normally, with water flowing through a few pipes internally, and theoretically through a coldplate.
There’s a reason no one really does this, but we still thought it’d be fun to test! We were right!
