BOLANY Air Fork SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Environment:
Air suspension forks are designed for off-road use, including trails, cross-country, and all-mountain riding. They are not typically recommended for heavy downhill or freeride use, as these disciplines often require more robust suspension systems.

Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential for optimal performance. This includes checking air pressure, inspecting seals for leaks, and cleaning the stanchions and lower legs regularly.(Please be aware that when attempting to disassemble the legs of the front fork, it is crucial to fully deflate the air to prevent any safety incidents.)

Air Pressure: The recommended air pressure for your fork will depend on your weight, riding style, and the specific fork model. Most forks have a recommended pressure range printed on the fork leg.

Adjustments: air fork allow you to adjust the air pressure, some fork models can rebound damping (the speed at which the fork returns to full extension)

Temperature: Extreme temperatures can affect the performance of air suspension forks. It’s best to avoid using them in very cold or very hot conditions, as this can cause the air pressure to fluctuate and affect the fork’s performance.

Seals and Bushings: Check the seals and bushings regularly for signs of wear or damage. Replace them if necessary to prevent oil leaks and maintain performance.
Storage: When not in use, store your bike in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, to prevent damage to the fork’s seals and internals.

Professional Servicing: If you’re unsure about servicing or adjusting your fork, it’s best to take it to a professional bike mechanic or suspension specialist for maintenance.

Installation Instructions

1. Measure and Mark: The steerer tube original length is 220mm.Determine the desired length of the steerer tube based on your bike’s geometry and your riding preferences. Use a marker to make a clear mark on the steerer tube at the cutting point.

2. Cut the Steerer Tube: Use a steerer tube cutting tool (or a hacksaw with a guide) to cut the steerer tube carefully along the marked line. Ensure the cut is straight and clean.

3.Deburr and Clean: After cutting, use a file or sandpaper to remove any burrs or sharp edges from the cut end of the steerer tube. Clean the inside of the steerer tube to remove any debris.

4. Install the Bottom Washer: Place the bottom washer on the steerer tube of the fork, and tap it down to the bottom using a tool.

5.Install the Star Nut: Insert the star nut into the steerer tube using a star nut installation tool. Tap the tool gently with a hammer until the star nut is fully seated and secure.

6. Reassemble the Fork: Reinstall the fork onto the bike, ensuring the steerer tube is inserted into the head tube and the headset components are properly aligned.
7. Adjust and Tighten: Adjust the headset bearings and preload according to your bike’s specifications. Tighten the headset top cap to preload the bearings and secure the fork in place.

8. Reinstall the Front Wheel:
Slide the front wheel back into place, ensuring it is centered and aligned with the fork dropouts.
Tighten the axle nuts or quick release skewer securely.

9. Check and Adjust:
Check the alignment of the fork and handlebars to ensure they are straight.
Check the headset for smooth operation and adjust if necessary.
Check the brakes to ensure they are aligned and functioning correctly.

10.Test Ride and Check: Test ride the bike to ensure the fork is installed correctly and there are no issues with the steering or handling. Periodically check the headset for any signs of looseness or play.

NOTE:It’s essential to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and use the appropriate tools for cutting and installing the steerer tube. If you’re unsure or uncomfortable with this process, it’s best to seek assistance from a professional bike mechanic.
