On this episode I explain why the Seagull 1963 by Sugess is one of the best value Mechanical watches you can have in your collection. There are plenty of reasons to like the Seagull 1963, and I share a few of the reasons that attracted me to this watch, and why I bought it.

One of the most popular Complications among watch enthusiasts are Chronographs. Particularly Column Wheel Chronographs in Mechanical watches. Generally you are looking at watches over $1000 in order to get one. The Seagull 1963 and it’s many versions utilizing the ST1901 movement offer an affordable alternative. So affordable that my Sugess 1963 is less expensive than most Quartz Chronographs with Seiko Mecha-quartz movements!

Having a watch in your collection that isn’t just attractive on wrist, but off your wrist where you can admire the intricate workings of the device is special. Very few watches offer that level of appeal at an affordable price point. Especially if like me you’ve seen many entry level movements regardless of their country of manufacture.

As someone who maintains a 6 watch collection. Parting with the Seagull 1963 by Sugess won’t be easy. Doing so would probably motivate me to buy something far more expensive to replace it.
