Will CineStill Ever Recover From This?
In late 2023, CineStill did something no one expected. They trademarked a term the film photography community considered descriptive and sent out strongly-worded warnings to ECN-2 respoolers to remove 800T from their packaging and descriptions. This set off a firestorm across the web and caused irreparable damage to CineStill’s brand. In this video, I take a deep dive into CineStill and their history to answer the question: What is CineStill Afraid Of?
Is it all the competition in the film rebranding space? The proliferation of ECN-2 Processing, making cinema film more accessible than ever? Or do you think CineStill is gearing up for a sale or investors? Let me know in the comments!
