Xiaomi Mi 10 PRO – Review with Photo + Video + Audio + 5G! [Xiaomify]
Xiaomi’s 10 year anniversary phone is here: the Xiaomi Mi 10 PRO. It’s the yearly release of their flagship phone, but is it any good? Let’s find out!
The Mi 10 Pro (and the Mi 10) come not too long after the release of Xiaomi’s Mi Note 10, which had some really impressive camera specs. The Mi 10 PRO seems to top that. The camera features are slightly identical but have improved a bit.
Its main features include the all-new Snapdragon 865 processor, 5G-support, improved 108-megapixel camera, 8K video, 90 Hz AMOLED display, Stereo speakers, Qi charging (30W) and 65 watts wired charger support.
The Mi 10 PRO features a 108-megapixel main camera, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, a 12-megapixel 2 x zoom lens (portrait) and an 8-megapixel 5 x zoom lens. (In most spec sheets its described as 10x zoom lens but the default camera setting is 5x zoom) These photos come out very good, for all lenses. It is somewhat similar to the Mi Note 10 that I have reviewed as well; but its marginally better and the processing of photos is MUCH faster.
The video of the 8K camera is HUGE. It looks very very good but the files are very big and the footage is not stabilized. I think there is a certain market for 8K cameras but for most day-to-day use you probably want to use the 4K filming features. 4K video is stabilized and the file size is a lot more manageable. Additionally there is a ‘super stabilized’ video option which will record in HD.
The audio is also improved (a lot) with the much better sounding stereo speakers. *It does not come across too well in this video but I am uploading a full camera and audio review video with a bunch of samples in the next weeks.
I am personally a big fan of QI wireless charging and I am happy to see the Mi 10 PRO includes this once again. (Something I was missing on the Mi Note 10)
Also, the (wired) fast charging capabilities are really mind-blowing! So far I have only tested that on a 35 watts charger, but even that is still impressive. (I am receiving a 65 watts charger in the next few days and will report back on how fast that really charges the phone..)
As it comes with the Snapdragon 865, the Mi 10 PRO also comes with 5G. And this was actually the first time I could try out the all new 5G network! -It’s fast! I managed to get 530 mbps download and 30 mbps upload speeds. (On LTE I get ~35 mbps down, and ~4 mbps upload speeds)
It should be capable of much higher speeds but I think this will change once the 5G network here gets rolled out on a larger scale. The upload speed seems to be capped by my provider at the time of testing this, hopefully that will change in the near future as well.
Overall the Mi 10 PRO is a big upgrade. Whether you’re comparing it with the Mi 9, or even with the Mi Note 10; there is a lot more going on than you might expect.
In daily use it’s fast, it’s snappy and it feels like a very good device. The new processor made this phone score very well in the benchmark tests that I’ve performed and you can feel in day-to-day use that its fast.
The screen is also very pleasant. Even though 90Hz refresh rate does not sound like a huge difference, it does make the screen look more natural in some ways.
So far I am really liking almost everything about the Mi 10 PRO and I will be sure to use this phone as my daily driver for the month to come.
Stay tuned for my full photo, video and audio review video coming up soon where I will compare it with the Mi 9 and the Mi note 10 as well.
